DTP Blog 8 Swayed Q & A

Hello, everyone. What a whirlwind the last couple of weeks have been with book 3, Swayed, being finished up and released. The release was a huge success, and I can’t thank all the people that were involved enough. I have an amazing group of people behind me that make magical things happen with their support and encouragement.  I couldn’t do it without them!

I hope all of you enjoy book 3, Swayed. It has been an amazing journey to write the story and learn the whole process that goes into self-publishing a book. It’s so much work, but I love to do it. Please remember to go to Amazon and leave your reviews.

Due to the weather the night of the launch I didn’t get to answer some of the questions that were submitted. So, I thought I would answer them here. I had some good questions.

  1. What is the hardest part about separating yourself from the part of the character when you are writing the books?

When I started writing a lot of Danni’s traits were taken from me. I guess you could say she is based on me to a point. But, then her character grew, and she became her own personality. As a writer, I learned your life and experiences can and will influence the things you do. Anyone that knows me knows that feelings are not my thing and I run away from them. My husband laughs at me at how I flee a room when tears are involved from anyone.  (Tears are my kryptonite.)

  1. Is the name of the town Danni’s bar set in revealed in the other books?

No. I love the Black Hills of South Dakota and try to spend time up there. In the books, Rapid City is the larger city they spend time in. In my mind, I pictured a fictional town using traits of Spearfish and Deadwood.

  1. What was the best part of writing the book?

All of it. But, if I had to pick one, it would be getting lost in the story and characters as it played out in my head. It’s nice to take a break from your own personal reality at times.

  1. How did Danni ever come to be?

The whole story was created by one fictional event that changed Danni. She started out as this hurt woman, but as the story evolved her personality emerged and she became a force to reckon with.

  1. Was there a certain band that influenced the band Dark Pieces?

Yes, but it was a combination of multiple bands. I would have categorized the bands as Hard Rock Grunge. Check out my playlist on my Pinterest page. They are some of my favorite bands.

  1. When will book 4, Deceptive, be released?

My goal is early March 2017. Sooner if I can make it happen.

  1. Are any of the characters or events in the books based on you or real events?

No. It is a fictional story.

  1. Will book 4, Deceptive, be the last book in the series?

Kind of. For Danni’s and Collin’s story, yes. However, I am toying with the idea of writing a few from a few other perspectives and telling their story as well.

Daniel would be so much fun to write!

  1. Do you have some actors that you would like to see play the part of Collin and Danni?

I do! I have a fantasy cast board I used to keep traits straight. For Collin, I would love to see Henry Cavill play the part. The Superman actor. (I have a huge crush on the guy) For Danni, well that is a little trickier. I don’t know the name of the model I picked, but she is perfect for Danni. Check out my Pinterest page to see my fantasy cast. I would be anxious to see if you could figure out the rest.

  1. Who is your favorite character?

That is a tough one. I love all of them, but if I had to choose one: it would be Daniel. He makes me laugh. He is such a goofy guy. I think most of us have that one friend like him. I think he balances Danni out and brings the humor to the books.
